Santa Fe Film Festival 2014 Announces Filmmakers in Attendance for May 1-4<\/b><\/p>\n
More than 40 film programs will be hosted at the Jean Cocteau Cinema at the Railyard, along with the Center for Contemporary Arts (CCA.) Producers and filmmakers will be in attendance.<\/p>\n
Among the filmmakers who will attend the May 1-4 Santa Fe Film Festival 2014 are Peter McCarthy<\/strong>, who will screen a sneak preview of his new, locally-made film Death & Taxes<\/b><\/em>\u00a0(produced with A-list Santa Fe actors); Jim\u00a0Tushinski<\/strong>, who\u00a0will present I Always Said Yes: The Many Lives of Wakefield Poole<\/em>,<\/b> about a famed Broadway choreographer turned erotic film director turned activist; Shaeri Richards, <\/strong>presenting Moving from Emptiness: The Life and Art of a Zen Dude,<\/b> <\/em>about Zen calligraphic painter Alok Hsu Kwang-han; Rob<\/strong> Bruce<\/strong>,<\/em> who\u00a0will be in attendance for his film McConkey<\/b><\/em>, a portrait of an extreme skier and ski designer; and actor\u00a0Michael Gross<\/strong> (Family Ties<\/b><\/em>), who will be screening \u00a0his half-hour film Guest House<\/b><\/em> in the short-film program Growing Pains: Adolescent Short Films for Adults.<\/em><\/p>\n Santa Fe Film Festival will also present the winning project of this year\u2019s Shoot Santa Fe<\/em> Pilot<\/em>. For this annual program, pilot projects across New Mexico competed for the opportunity to win a\u00a0$25,000 film package, which includes\u00a0resources \u00a0(through the festival\u2019s partnership) for the winner\u00a0to complete a television series pilot. The 2014 award-winner\u00a0#nightslikethese <\/b>will be screened at this year\u2019s festival. Producers Angelique Midthunder<\/strong> and Melanie Kirk<\/strong> teamed up with director Anna Macpherson<\/strong>\u00a0for this project.\u00a0\u201c<\/b>It is an honor to earn the Pilot Project prize and have our pilot screened at the Santa Fe Film Festival,\u201d says Midthunder.<\/p>\n A documentary by Kristina Wagner<\/strong> and Joe Crump<\/strong>, Children of Internment,<\/b><\/em> about former internees and their families, will also join the lineup.<\/p>\n Local filmmakers Luca Ceccarelli<\/strong> and Eileen Street<\/strong> will bring us the New Mexico-made award-winning Eve Angelic, <\/b>a short action-fantasy about a spy named Eve who finds herself in danger while on a mission at a mysterious Vatican Intelligence Service meeting.<\/p>\n Producers Michael Fitzgerald<\/strong> and Richard Romero<\/strong> bring to the Festival their new film, Closer to the Moon<\/b><\/em> (2014), starring Mark Strong<\/strong>, Vera Farmiga<\/strong> and Harry Lloyd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing from Santa Fe, it is a great honor to share with you a fantastic film that I was a part of… Thank you,\u201d said Romero.<\/p>\n A special retrospective is planned in honor of Michael Fitzgerald<\/strong>, including The Three Burials of Melquiades<\/em> Estrada<\/em><\/b> (2005) and The Pledge<\/b><\/em> (2001).\u00a0 \u201cThree entirely different ways to celebrate film,\u201d observes Fitzgerald. \u201cAnd in Santa Fe.
