2011 Santa Fe Film Festival titles<\/h1>\n

The Artist, A Separation<\/em>,<\/h1>\n

and\u00a0Monsieur Lazhar,\u00a0<\/em>are Oscar bound \u2013 time to celebrate!<\/h1>\n
On the heels of winning three Golden Globes this year – the 2011 Santa Fe Film\u00a0Festival\u2019s sold-out opening night film,\u00a0The Artist<\/em>, received 10 Academy Award\u00a0nominations last week including noms in the Best Director (Michel Hazanavicius),\u00a0Best Actor (Jean Dujardin), Best Supporting Actress (B\u00e9r\u00e9nice Bejo), Best Original\u00a0Screenplay (Hazanavicius) and Best Film categories. Additional nominations for this\u00a0charming, love letter to Hollywood\u2019s silent era honor the film\u2019s cinematographer,\u00a0production designer, costume designer, film editor and composer.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Since the film’s Santa Fe premiere at the 2011 festival in October, The Artist has\u00a0earned kudos world-wide: making over a dozen international film critic\u2019s top ten\u00a0lists and taking top honors from the London Film Critics Circle, The New York Film\u00a0Critics Circle, the Producers Guild, among many others.\u00a0And the accolades do not\u00a0stop there with\u00a0The Artist\u00a0winning the Directors Guild\u2019s Outstanding Directorial\u00a0Achievement in a Feature Film for Michel Hazanaviicius (often a predictor of the\u00a0Academy Award winner for Best Director) and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role (Jean Dujardin) at the\u00a0Screen Actor\u2019s Guild (SAG) Awards.<\/div>\n
Other Oscar contenders first screened in New Mexico at the 2011 Santa Fe Film\u00a0Festival are Asghar Farhadi\u2019s\u00a0A Separation<\/em>\u00a0and Philippe Falardea\u2019s\u00a0Monsieur Lazhar<\/em>\u00a0(a US Premiere).<\/div>\n
Winner of the Best Foreign Language Film at this year\u2019s Golden Globes,\u00a0A Separation<\/em>,\u00a0is also favored to take home Oscar gold in this category with its Writer\/Director\u00a0Farhadi nominated alongside Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist<\/em>) for Best Original\u00a0Screenplay. Joining Iran\u2019s\u00a0A Separation<\/em>, in making the Academy\u2019s Foreign Language\u00a0Film shortlist, is the Santa Fe Film Festival\u2019s closing night film,\u00a0Monsieur Lazhar<\/em>\u00a0representing Canada.<\/div>\n
