\u201cLa Sirga\u201d, screening at the 2012 Santa Fe Film Festival, is about Alicia, a Colombian young girl of 19 who tries to rebuild her life after her family is killed in Colombia by the military.<\/p>\n

This takes her to La Sirga, a decadent hostel beside a lagoon at the top of the Andes belonging to her uncle Oscar, the only family she has now, a taciturn old man who shows no great desire to accept her presence there. However, Alicia stays in the hostel and the film’s plot follows the conflict and its inevitable approach to an area hitherto peaceful and forgotten by the world.<\/p>\n

According to the director, this is not intended to be a film about war, violence or about drug traffic, rather, it’s about relationships\u2014relationships between the five characters: what they hide and what they really are.<\/p>\n

\"La<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cLa Sirga\u201d, a Colombian drama by director William Vega, has won countless awards, both national and international. They include Best Picture and Special Jury Prize, 16 Film Festival Lima, Peru, 2012; the Films in Progress 21, International Film Festival of San Sebastian; and Cin\u00e9mas Rencontres D’Amerique Latine in Toulouse, France, 2012.<\/p>\n

It has been shown at film festivls: Cannes, San Sebastian and Toronto. With Joghis starring as Alicia Arias, Julio Cesar Roble as Oscar and David Guacas as Gabriel.
