Dokra Keu Bojhey Na

We converse with artisans and its sellers to discuss the lack of patronage that may lead to its extinction and the possible ways to revive the craft as well the poor living conditions of its artists.

Dokra Keu Bojhey Na (Incomprehensible Dokra) is an animated documentary that explores the perils that the 4000 year old craft of Dokra faces in West Bengal, India.

Ballerina

Ballerina is the story of an 8-year-old girl who is about to have a dance performance but due to the Iranian rules, her father and other men are prohibited to watch the ballet.

Mana refuses to start the dance and unites with other children to go outside to perform for her father… it is a portrayal of a united civil protest.

Avni

Avni, a 7 year-old girl lives with her mother, Malti and her brother, Navin. Malti, a single mother works in fields, she sends Navin to school, but keeps Avni home for chores. With an undying desire to study, Avni finds an ingenious way to learn.  Avni secretly runs to her brother’s school. She quietly stands outside the window and picks up what is being taught in the class.

Would this moment be enough for Malti to empower Avni?
