Showtime: Dec 8th, 7:00 PM at the Jean Cocteau Cinema
Synopsis:
Three longtime college friends all living very different lives in New York City meet for brunch and leave wondering is the grass always greener on the other side.
Director’s Statement:
Greener is a story about three different women. Susan, Libby and Anna are three good friends that have a completely different point of view in life. What I love about this story and what inspired me in the making of the movie is New York city as the scenario, a city so used in films but yet so full of different aspects and unique lifestyles. They all live the City in a very different way, this inspired me on the specific and varying options for filming each character’s scene, choosing location and wardrobe. From the passionate and thrilling life of Susan, where the future is uncertain, to the very sober and posh world of Libby, to the new mom Anna and her family difficulties; I played with shots and focus to make their life part of the camera point of view. This also inspired the pacing of the editing as well, and I allowed their rhythms to drive the style. Each one of them wants something more than what they have already, something that her friends have, in their nonstop rush to their individual satisfactions and success; as Anna says “We can have it all, just not at the same time”.
