Dokra Keu Bojhey Na (Incomprehensible Dokra) is an animated documentary that explores the perils that the 4000 year old craft of Dokra faces in West Bengal, India.

We converse with artisans and its sellers to discuss the lack of patronage that may lead to its extinction and the possible ways to revive the craft as well the poor living conditions of its artists.


Sneha Das and Monjima Mullick are animators who studied for their Bachelors of Multimedia at St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata and are now pursuing their diploma in Animation Cinema at Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata.


Sneha Das

Sneha Das is an animator and filmmaker with a keen interest in making stop motion and mixed media films. She was born and raised in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata with a Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia and Animation and is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Animation Cinema from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata.

Her current body of work consists of three short animated films Stop.Look.Go. (2022), Hocchey ta ki? (2022) and Dokra Keu Bojhay Na (2023)

Monjima Mullick

Monjima Mullick, a passionate animator and illustrator with a love for 2D and stop motion animation, born and raised in the culturally vibrant city of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata with a Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia and Animation, is currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Animation Cinema from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. A lover of Dogs and creating cutesy illustration.
