Created in a laboratory by his brilliant scientist “parents” from ancient DNA, a sensitive young Neanderthal struggles to find his place in the modern world. William develops rapidly, but the doctors who cloned him soon argue over how to raise him. They take William out of his laboratory “home” to start a new life on remote Quiggan Island. William finds some measure of acceptance in the progressive island community.
