Off The Menu ***
Dir Jay Silverman
“Off The Menu” is a fun lighthearted movie. It would not feel out of place on the Hallmark Channel. The movie follows Joel Flanagan (Santino Fontana), the scion of a wealthy fast food chain owning family, and Javiera Torres (Diana Ramirez), the cook of a specialty New Mexican food café, as they clash over some stunning food. Here comes the warning, don’t see this movie on an empty stomach. The movie is beautifully shot, well-acted (especially by the excellent Makenzie Moss as Sophia Torres), and well-paced. It may be a bit paint by numbers, but “Off The Menu” shows a true love of New Mexican culture and cuisine.
